What is a grandparent?

Saturday, March 25th, 2006

Read it somewhere… worth sharing… read on…

Grandparents

so now you know …

WHAT IS A GRANDPARENT? (taken from papers written by a class of 8-year-olds)

Grandparents are a lady and a man who have no little children of her own. They like other people’s.

A grandfather is a man grandmother.

Grandparents don’t have to do anything except be there when we come to see them. They are so old they shouldn’t play hard or run. It is good if they drive us to the store and have lots of quarters for us.

When they take us for walks, they slow down past things like pretty leaves and caterpillars.

They show us and talk to us about the color of the flowers and also Why we shouldn’t step on “cracks.”

They don’t say, “Hurry up.”

Usually grandmothers are fat, but not too fat to tie your shoes.

They wear glasses and funny underwear.

They can take their teeth and gums out.

Grandparents don’t have to be smart.

They have to answer questions like “why isn’t God married?” and “How come dogs chase cats?”.

“It’s funny when they bend over, you hear gas leaks and they blame their dog.”

When they read to us, they don’t skip. They don’t mind if we ask for the same story over again.

Everybody should try to have a grandmother, especially if you don’t have television, because they are the only grown ups who like to spend time with us. THIS ONE MADE ME SAD, BUT HOW TRUE IT IS.

They know we should have snack-time before bedtime and they say prayers with us every time, and kiss us even when we’ve acted bad.

A 6 YEAR OLD WAS ASKED WHERE HIS GRANDMA LIVED. ”OH,” HE SAID, ”SHE LIVES AT THE AIRPORT, AND WHEN WE WANT HER WE JUST GO GET HER. THEN WHEN WE’RE DONE HAVING HER VISIT, WE TAKE HER BACK TO THE AIRPORT.”

at the brink of…

Thursday, March 16th, 2006

So there we are, having robots breaking laws of robotics and pushing the technology at the brink of distruction (even further)…

THE US Army is deploying armed robots in Iraq that are capable of breaking Asmov’s first law that they should not harm a human.

See what these US robots are capable of doing:

WordPress Security Release 2.0.2

Saturday, March 11th, 2006

okay… WordPress brings out 2.0.2, that makes it the second major (as in their nature) releases within 40 days. That makes things a bit shaky… but on the other hand, it’s good that things are being tracked down and taken into account. Hopefully this one takes care of the problems (security holes and bugs) so that there aren’t any frequent releases.

2.0.2 Security Release — 23 hours ago

An important security issue has been brought to the attention of the WordPress team and we have worked diligently to bring you a new stable release that addresses it. Our latest version 2.0.2 contains several bugfixes and security fixes. The problems addressed are unannounced XSS issues privately discovered and reported to the WordPress team. Thanks to [...]

2.0.1 Release — 38 days ago

It’s been exactly one month since we released the well-received WordPress 2.0 release. In the past 4 weeks we’ve been listening closely to feedback, squashing bugs wherever we find them, and watching how 2.0 handled under different loads. We’ve rolled up all the most important fixes into a 2.0.1 release, which is now available for download. All [...]

Myth

Saturday, March 11th, 2006

Can anybody trace back in history and verify this Einstein-ic argument; if it’s true?

Does evil exist? Did God create evil?

materialistic

Monday, March 6th, 2006

The very existance of human beings is material.

So being materialistic is just natural.

The other day I was talking to a friend and talking of being materialistc I said the above. And since then, I’ve been thinking a lot about it. Sometimes it makes a whole lot of sense, sometimes it doesn’t.

expectations

Monday, March 6th, 2006

…and so it happened that no matter how much I reminded myself NOT to expect a lot from the ones I would - usually, I did. and was disappointed.
