committed to life

Tuesday, September 12th, 2006

Been listening to this song for some while and it really moves me. I don’t have words to say, the lyrics says it all; Committed to life by Asian Dub Foundation from the album Community Music.

I’ll be honest with you:
I hate war in all it’s forms-
Physical, psychological, spiritual… emotional… environmental
I hate war…
And i hate having to struggle - i honestly do
Because i wish i had been into a world where it was
Unnecessary.
This context of struggle and being a warrior and being a
Struggler
Has been forced on me by oppression.
Otherwise i would be a sculptor, or a gardener,
Carpenter - you know, i would be free to be so much more…

I guess part of me or a part of who i am, a part of what i do
Is being a warrior - a reluctant warrior, a reluctant struggler
But… i do it because i’m committed to life
We can’t avoid it, we can’t run away from it
Because to do that is to be… cowardice-
To do that is to be subservient… to devils, subservient to
Evil and so that the only way to live on this planet
With any human dignity at the moment is to struggle.

2) SAJ (nick: where shall we meet)

me: sorry was away.. i think u said somethin… that i’ve missed

SAJ: tks
I answered question embeded in your nick
that is
it is so difficult to face the life as it is some times. no?

me: well depends… when our hopes and streghth is not as high as the difficulties it confronts, it’s difficult…
otherwise it’s not.

SAJ: ya, sort of diplomatic theory we can take refuge in
may be , I agree with this easier way

me: the beauty of human spirit is that after going through all the terbulance and trials, it can rise itslef up and overcome misery

SAJ: yesyes

me: that’s what i think

SAJ: but what about the time lost in those turbulances
that is what botheres me some time

me: u used that time to experience those turbulances… u didnt loose the time.. u used it.. utelized it… experienced something and learnt something..

SAJ: i wish you could hammer this thing in my
i wish that
ya

me: think of time as a medium through which u travel and u learn and u teach… and u live… … not a commodity that u loose or throw away…

SAJ: ya
I do
I do all that people teach, and the time teach but still at the end of the day
i end up losing, or that is what I feel , some time only

SAJ: any idea about ban on blogspot

me: have no clue.. it wasnt suppose to be there in the frist place though..

What is a grandparent?

Saturday, March 25th, 2006

Read it somewhere… worth sharing… read on…

Grandparents

so now you know …

WHAT IS A GRANDPARENT? (taken from papers written by a class of 8-year-olds)

Grandparents are a lady and a man who have no little children of her own. They like other people’s.

A grandfather is a man grandmother.

Grandparents don’t have to do anything except be there when we come to see them. They are so old they shouldn’t play hard or run. It is good if they drive us to the store and have lots of quarters for us.

When they take us for walks, they slow down past things like pretty leaves and caterpillars.

They show us and talk to us about the color of the flowers and also Why we shouldn’t step on “cracks.”

They don’t say, “Hurry up.”

Usually grandmothers are fat, but not too fat to tie your shoes.

They wear glasses and funny underwear.

They can take their teeth and gums out.

Grandparents don’t have to be smart.

They have to answer questions like “why isn’t God married?” and “How come dogs chase cats?”.

“It’s funny when they bend over, you hear gas leaks and they blame their dog.”

When they read to us, they don’t skip. They don’t mind if we ask for the same story over again.

Everybody should try to have a grandmother, especially if you don’t have television, because they are the only grown ups who like to spend time with us. THIS ONE MADE ME SAD, BUT HOW TRUE IT IS.

They know we should have snack-time before bedtime and they say prayers with us every time, and kiss us even when we’ve acted bad.

A 6 YEAR OLD WAS ASKED WHERE HIS GRANDMA LIVED. ”OH,” HE SAID, ”SHE LIVES AT THE AIRPORT, AND WHEN WE WANT HER WE JUST GO GET HER. THEN WHEN WE’RE DONE HAVING HER VISIT, WE TAKE HER BACK TO THE AIRPORT.”
